TILTED SPOOLS

 

 

This pattern will make a lap quilt 56 inch by 72 inch. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Fabric 1       Dark blue               1 3/4 yards

Fabric 2       Medium yellow       1 1/4 yards

Fabric 3       Light (white)          1 1/4 yards

Border                                      1 yard

Triangles on a Roll Half Square 4 inch finished size

Triangles on a Roll Half Square 2 inch finished size

 

You will be making 48 blocks and each block will consist of the following:

Fabrics 1 & 2

     Two 4 inch finished half squares

     Two 2 inch finished half squares

Fabrics 1 & 3

     Two 2 inch finished half squares

Fabric 3

     Four plain squares 2.5 inch by 2.5 inch

 

PIECING DIAGRAM

 

      

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.      Following the instructions on the Triangles on a Roll grid paper make the following:

 

96          4 inch finished half squares in fabrics 1 & 2

48          2 inch finished half squares in fabrics 1 & 2

48          2 inchfinished half squares in fabrics 1 & 3

 

2.      Then cut:

 

192        2.5 inch by 2.5 inch squares in fabric 3

 

3.      Following the piecing order noted in the PIECING DIAGRAM shown above and make 48 blocks (see below)

 

     

 

4.      Stitch the blocks together (6 across, 8 down)

5.      Cut 6 border strips 4 1/5 inch by 45 inch.

6.      Stitch end to end and sew all around the quilt.

7.      Layer and quilt as desired.
